(2006) Laser-optical investigation of stator-rotor interaction in a transonic turbine, 1 ABSTRACT This paper presents research in a highly-loaded cold-flow transonic turbine under continuous and engine like conditions. Special focus was placed on blade row interaction at app. 10600 rpm. While the first step was the investigation of a single stage machine (stator-rotor), the second step extended the test rig to a one and a half stage configuration (stator-rotor-stator) with focus on " clocking " effects between the first and second stator vanes. Measurements were carried out in the transonic test turbine at Graz University of Technology using Particle-Image-Velocimetry and Laser-Doppler-Anemometry to investigate the influence of shock reflections by the rotor blades on vortex shedding from the trailing edges of the stator and rotor blades. The main results of these experiments are discussed and compared to numerical simulations focusing on the visualization of both experimental and numerical results.
